The experts of the working group corresponding to the International Standardization Committee ISO / TC173 / WG1 called "Assistive products for walking" have met at the headquarters of Instituto de Biomecánica (IBV) on the 29th and 30th of January.
This working group is in charge of regulating and standardizing support products for walking (crutches, walkers...) seeking adaptation to the new needs of the market and the progress made in the products themselves.
Its members profile comes from the field of health as well as from manufacturers and distributors or laboratories specialized in the testing of this type of product.
The coordinator and secretary of the group are hold at this moment in Japan and also it counts with members from Germany, Belgium, Sweden and Spain.
IBV has at its disposal one of the most important laboratories in Europe for assistive technologies. The aim of these tests is characterizing the products and obtaining the CE label.
